I receive many compliments on my watch for its professional and simple look. It is not no Apple watch and has almost the same functions because I can track my workouts with a nice graph at the end depicting the level of intensity and the length of my workout. It does an amazing job of tracking my daily steps without any errors that sometimes arise with an Apple watch. I have a few friends tell me their apple watch counted steps while on a bus rides in Costa Rica that they suspected came from the bumps in the road. If you want accuracy, I recommend a WITHINGS watch plus I have worn it in the water many times and it has not shown any signs of water damage. When I first bought it, I wore it while in the water at several beaches and one pool. I have also worn it in the shower and accidentally put it in the washing machine and it still works perfectly fine. Additionally, batter life is amazing considering I charge it once a week and it only takes about an hour to charge back up. If you live an active lifestyle and love to swim I recommend this watch for you. Of course be careful and try not to expose it to water all the time because I do not swim everyday so am unsure of how well it will fair. If you still prefer an Apple watch, that is fair because WITHINGS only allows you to see your messages and it lets you choose which apps can send you notifications. If you prefer a small phone on your wrist, this may not be the best choice for you; however, it is a durable and long lasting watch with many other great features for those with an active lifestyle who also like to look professional.

If you need a watch that just looks good this is the one for you. If you are looking for a timepiece that keeps time then this is not the one for you. Every few days it displays some other time. Not sure if the hands slip or it just stops for awhile. The digital time is fine. The other problem is Withings. They imply that my wrist may be touching the control pin. Impossible to do but they suggested not wearing it for 2 days and checking the time. Problem is sometimes it might work right for a week. Now I have owned it too long to return so my old one will be my watch again. I only have given this review a 5 star to keep from getting buried at the end of the reviews.

The Steel HR is a beautiful watch. I have received many compliments on the aesthetic, and most are surprised when I tell them it’s a hybrid – which is exactly what I was after. I agree with the comments on the inaccuracy of the step count. I find it probably measures 2/3 of my steps when compared with apple / Fitbit. The exercise tracking functionality and HR is great – I regularly track spin and swimming and it is perfect for that. If Withings fixed the step count it would be the perfect hybrid watch.

Excellent product, but a few nigglesThis is my fifth activity tracker, first Withings one.Overall after nearly a month I’m happy. App is good (nothing like the horror of the Decathlon app, lots of info and analysis and seems to have good partnering with other apps), I like that it is a watch not a band, battery life so far is superb (I’ve not had to charge it yet, my Garmins had awful battery life, nowhere near claimed), and it’s easy and intuitive to use. The hand showing how far you are to your walking target is nice and subtle and grown up.Minuses: no “move” alarm/prompt AFAICT, visibility of hands is sometimes hard as they are very fine and not illuminated, visibility of the digital display is poor in strong light (summer daylight) and too fine to read without glasses (that is me not them, but on my Garmins I could read them). It’s not perfect, but so far it’s pretty good, especially as I got a “return” for a bargain price.
